Days of
Wonder
Do you ever wonder what the day will hold? What those in
power will decide on your behalf? What shifts will take place in economic
structures? What will happen to the universe because of global warming?
Do you wonder when wars will end? Why we experienced a Tsunami,
earthquakes and floods in 2005.
|
Do you
wonder how the universe hangs together, if there is life on Mars, how your
body with all its intricate working functions?
Do you wonder if you have it within you to meet the trials of the day?
Do you wonder about the sort of people you will
encounter, happy, miserable, sad, and poor? Do you wonder how to make your
finances stretch?
Do you
wonder what was in Gods thinking when he created the universe, and why He
would choose to adopt you into His family and make you a joint Heir with
Christ? Do you ever consider the enormity of the transaction that has
taken place in you, exchanging your old nature for a new God like nature?
Are you aware of the possibilities of your new nature that you have within
you the ability to create and destroy, to build and bring hope and peace
into this world?
The
great exchange - living your life by another, as
He is so are we in the world
Isa
8:18 “You
have been chosen to be a sign and a wonder….”
Wonder
fills our lives, as children we are often transfixed in wonder, at the
wonder of a snowflake, a waterfall, a rainbow, the wonder of flight and
speed.
Job 37:14
"...stand and consider the wonders of
God, do you know how God establishes them, and makes the lightening of his
cloud to shine, do you know about the layers of the thick clouds, the
wonders of one perfect in knowledge."
As
adults we often loose the ability to wonder and begin to see and
understand how things hold together, however I believe that the days are
soon coming when we will once again be caught in wonder.
The Word of God begins in wonder with the wonder of
creation, God stepping out of eternity and creating a time spaced world.
The beginning of time is wonderful, we see creation in
all its fullness… out of the chaos God formed a wonder, light and
darkness, earth and sea, plants and animals, people a garden environment
and it was all very good. The end of time is
equally as wonder packed and dramatic. As time steps into eternity again,
wonder upon wonder is unfolded to us.
We
find ourselves in the era of time here on earth, and I believe in the last
days. These days will be days packed full of awe
and wonder as we embrace the nature of God in His fullness so we will
begin to activate signs and wonders around us.
We are called to be signs in the times, displaying the glory of God, and
causing His presence to fill every place. The
days of the early church were marked by signs and wonders, the word of God
has clearly stated that signs will follow those who believe. In Acts we
read how great wonder and awe was upon those who saw:-
Acts 2:43
“everyone kept feeling a sense of awe and many
wonders and signs were taking place through the apostles.”
Acts 3:10
“….and they were filled with wonder
and amazement at that which had happened unto him.”
In
these days God is calling us His body to step up into all He has planned
for us to walk in, we are called no longer to walk as mere men, but to
take on ourselves the high calling with which we have been called, allow
the flesh to die and see the Christ in us arise in all His glory.
He has called us to intimacy with His Son, an intimacy
where we are so caught up with the Christ, and
His purpose that we forget the former things and beginning to see His
reflection in us, we step out into the authority He has called us to share
in. Days of Wonder will again be seen at the hands of the believers, and
the world will be drawn to brightness of the light arising.
What
then can we do to cause these days of wonder to come?
In
Acts before the outpouring of the Spirit and the evidence of the signs and
wonders the disciples were called to wait on the Lord, and they devoted
themselves to prayer. They were also all
together in one place, it was a place of unity. I believe there is a
fresh seeing in these days of the corporate body and so we are line for an
outpouring such as the world has never experienced before.
I am
also aware in these days of the drawing of the Spirit into the intimate
place of waiting for Lord, with devotion being highlighted, this can only
be signaling a pending of pouring out the Spirit. I am reminded of the
passage:-
Joel 2:28
“I will pour out my Spirit upon all people.
Your sons and daughters will prophesy. Your old men will dream dreams.
Your young men will see visions. In those days,
I will pour out my Spirit even on servants, men and women alike.”
I
believe that as we draw close to the Lord we will see things in the unseen
realm that have been stored up for the end times, we will see some of the
wonders that the Lord wants us to display on the earth, then having seen
them we will activate them on the earth. We simple need to get the
timings of God and begin to speak into being all that God has planned. He
has planned before time good works for us to walk in.
It has
been prophesied that the last days will be days of Days of Spirit and
Word, we read of Jesus that he said and did the works of His father.
The last days of the church on earth will be days
filled with the spoken word of Christ and the active word of Christ being
seen across the world, days when the Christ will be seen in all His glory
and all His fullness. This will come about as we the Body learn to abide
in Him, die to ourselves and live for Christ alone.
I am
excited as I look across the church and see the rising of those who are
sold out for Christ those who are not interested in making a name for
them-selves, but are living to see the corporate bride arise in all her
glory. I see a people who will go beyond the pre-drawn map, and are
willing to step into another dimension of life in the Spirit.
It is
the day to see the body arise to see signs and wonders once again filling
our streets and communities to see the life of God in all its fullness
flowing like a river and transforming lives. Set
your heart to wonder, that the mountain of the Lord would become the chief
of the mountains, that you have been baptized with the Spirit and are
called to go and bring good news to the afflicted, to bind up the broken
hearted, to set the captives free, to comfort those who mourn.
Step
out in 2006 into the anointing of Christ and see wonders taking place
every day.
